Kozmodrum is a Zagreb-based music project and a five-member live band led by drummer and multi-instrumentalist Janko Novoselić. Their sound is often called "Organic Dance Music," representing a unique blend of electronic club music and jazz/fusion tradition.
Kozmodrum's musical style combines elements of house, techno, dubstep, and breakbeat, performed exclusively live on "traditional" instruments (drums, guitars, keyboards, bass). The music is structured like a DJ set, where compositions, often minimalist, evolve into more complex patterns, allowing room for improvisation. Influences include artists such as Tycho, Elektro Guzzi, and Jaga Jazzist.
Kozmodrum has released three studio albums. The debut, Na Tragu Satelita (On the Trail of the Satellite, 2016), leaned more towards jazz and fusion elements. The second album, Gravity (2017), marked a shift towards an electronic and ambient sound, and it won the Porin Award in 2018 for Best Club Album. The third album, Kozmodrum (2021), was announced by the single "Wormhoooooooooole," which was recognized by esteemed British radio stations (Gilles Peterson, Tom Ravenscroft).
The Kozmodrum band is a five-member ensemble gathering renowned musicians from the Croatian nu-jazz scene: Janko Novoselić (drums, author), Ivan Kapec (guitar), Elvis Penava (guitar), Goran Delač (bass), and Hrvoje Galler (keyboards/synth). In addition to numerous performances at domestic festivals and concerts, they have shared the stage with acts such as Jaga Jazzist, Floating Points, and Sinkane.
