In 1999, four excellent and highly experienced concert soloists from Prague discovered a common interest – chamber music. Is there a more challenging form than a string quartet? Epoque was thus born, giving its members a new challenge: an entirely new music repertoire not limited to classical music. Their interest in jazz, rock, funky, gipsy jazz or tango encouraged creativity, unconventional arrangement and new technical possibilities of instrument use, as well as collaboration with artists from various music genres. Croatian audiences are already acquainted with Epoque thanks to their collaboration with Tamara Obrovac that delved into the complicated works of Istrian folk music. The question arises – is it really possible to be so talented, open and agile in so many musical areas? Epoque quartet dares their audiences to experience it for themselves.
