Musical Evenings at St Donatus

PHOTO EXHIBITION

Marko-Lorenzo Blaslov

Photography captures not only what we see, but also what we feel. This exhibition is an opportunity to relive the magic of a festival that has been celebrating world-class music in Zadar for decades. The exhibition brings a unique visual overview of the most powerful moments from the jubilee 65th Musical Evenings in St. Donatus. Through his distinctive lens, Marko-Lorenzo Blaslov has managed to freeze the synergy of top musicians, the historic ambiance, and the loyal audience, turning fleeting tones into lasting visual works of art.

Marko-Lorenzo Blaslov is a documentary photographer from Zadar dedicated to the long-term recording of natural and cultural heritage, as well as the lives of local communities. Through an authentic documentary approach and years of fieldwork, he explores the relationship between humans and space, and the traditions that shape society. He is the author of numerous solo exhibitions, and his work is regularly published in various media and publications. In his work, he focuses particularly on tradition preservation projects, within which he has documented the lives of Velebit shepherds, the Halubje Bell Ringers (Halubajski zvončari), and the Lastovo Carnival (Lastovski poklad), whose photographs were used for a monograph and in the UNESCO candidacy process. Additionally, by capturing the traditional harvesting of sedge in Kopački Rit for the needs of the Zadar liqueur Maraschino, he has showcased a unique link between nature and custom. He actively participates in numerous national and international ecological projects in cooperation with national parks, institutions, and organizations such as the WWF. Notable among them are the international project LIFE RESTORE for MDD in the Mura–Drava–Danube Biosphere Reserve, as well as long-term engagements in protecting river ecosystems and endangered habitats in Croatia and Slovenia. Through his work, Blaslov aims to create permanent visual records of people, landscapes, traditions, and customs that contribute to the protection and better understanding of our cultural heritage.
