MIA MILJKOVIĆ ĐUZEL, piano
program: L. van Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven's violin sonatas constitute, without a doubt, the basic repertoire for violin and piano. At their side stand those of Mozart and later Schumann, Brahms, Franck and Bartók. This part of the composer's oeuvre does not cover his entire life as a composer, as is the case, for example, with piano sonatas and string quartets. Beethoven composed his first nine sonatas by the time he was 32, and his last one in 1812, fifteen years before his death. However, even in that particular category, Beethoven set the gold standard, becoming a role model for future generations of composers.
In his ideal of absolute music, Beethoven treated both instruments with complete equality and freedom in handling musical content. Although we call them violin sonatas, in the manuscript, the composer himself calls them sonatas “for piano and violin” (in that order!), a testimony to the truly equal partnership between the two instruments. The first, third and seventh sonatas will be performed by the concertmaster of the Zadar Chamber Orchestra Marco Graziani and pianist Mia Miljković Đuzel.
