Night of the Museums: Sailing the Renaissance Mediterranean
Kruno Carić, lute
Board the time machine and sail away with the notes of the old masters of the Renaissance! Lutenist Kruno Carić will lead us through the Renaissance Mediterranean with a program of Spanish (Luys Milan, Narvaez, Mudarra, Pisador), Italian (Francesco da Milano, Giacomo Gorzanis, Capirola, Paladino, Crema, dal'Aquilla, Negri) and French composers (Le Roy, Besard) with a special treat - Sephardic melodies and melodies from the Greek islands on rabab.
Kruno Carić was born in 1990 in Dubrovnik. He arrived in Zagreb as a child, where he studied at the Elly Bašić Music School. He plays electric and classical guitar in bands of diverse musical expressions; with one of them he went to Cyprus in 2013 for a meeting of European and Arab youth, where he played in an orchestra and discovered the Arab lute (al-oud) and saz. Then he meets the master Alojzije Seder, who gives him a Renaissance lute, and from then on he starts devoting himself to early music, in which he finds a home. He also worked with Professor Igor Paro. He gathers an unusual trio in which he plays and arranges early music for lute, mandolin and flute, and also writes his own music. A student of philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, he continues his search for musical education with lutenist and professor Massimo Lonardi at the School of Early Music in Venice.
