FLAM DUO & NINA ĆORIĆ
TUESDAY, JULY 23RD | 09:00 PM H | ST NICHOLAS' CHURCH

Francesco Mazzoleni, percussion
Luis Camacho Montealegre, percussion
Nina Ćorić, vocalist

Flam-a Duo was founded by the Italian Francesco Mazzoleni and the Spanish Luis Camacho Montealegre, who met in 2016 while studying at the Academy of Music in Zagreb. In 2022, Croatia Records will publish the sound carrier "Preludes and Fugues". Since the founding of the duo, great emphasis has been placed on communication, both with each other and with the audience. Using musical performance as a means of telling stories, the Flam-a duo relies on a strong emotional connection with the selected repertoire in their work.

With the Mediterraneo project, they began researching mutual cultural links. The concert program, inspired by Spanish tradition with the reading of selected poems by Federico García Lorca from the Romancero gitano collection, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain and with the guest appearance of the promoter of Spanish culture in Croatia, flamenco singer Nina Ćorić, is one of the milestones on this journey.

Project Recycle - Romani Folkson

This year's advancement of Musical Evenings brings something new in the sense of interweaving various forms of art and stylistic breadth, mirroring today's Zadar, Croatian and European cultural moment, so several concerts will have their own late-night Coda and a kind of echo of the same but different instrument. After the concert piano, Hammond, Moog and synthesizer will sound, after classical guitars a distorted Telecaster, and a traditional Roma song will connect Spain and the Balkans.

Balkan Zoo is a band of bassist and composer Mario Rašić, who has been promoting the music of Balkan elements in new, modern arrangements for 10 years. On the new album "Recycle", composed of popular Roma songs colored by jazz, hip-hop and flamenco, he is joined by flamenco singer Nina Ćorić. With this project, the artists want to point out the prejudices, but also the richness of the cultural heritage of the Roma, and contribute to positive changes in society through music. Through their interpretation of Roma music, their goal is to build some new bridges of understanding, friendship and coexistence.
